Test Ride

If there is an adjustable steering damper wind this completely off.

Start the engine and listen for top-end rattles or bottom-end knocks.


Hold the clutch lever in and listen for clutch basket rattle.

Check the bars move freely from side to side.

Make sure you know where youre going. If you dont know the area ask the seller for some directions.

Riding

Change up and down through the gearbox several times. Does each gear slot home?

Make sure you can find neutral.

Accelerate hard in each gear. Does it jump out of gear? Are there any flat spots in the power delivery?

Try the brakes from looking for warped discs and knocking to clicking from worn head races.

Does the bike pop out of gear under engine braking? Pay particular attention to second and third gears.
