Haggling

Knowing how to haggle over the price of a bike will save you hundreds.

Have three prices in mind. The price youd love to pay, a good deal, and the most youll pay.

Ask the seller, realistically, how much they expect to get for the bike. As soon as they give you a price, look them in the eye and make a offer, It pays to justify your offer by pointing out any genuine issues with the bike, for example, "Its going to need a new rear tyre soon."

The seller should accept your offer or make a new one. If youre not happy with this make him an offer somewhere in the middle.

If it looks like theyre about to accept you price, offer them your hand to seal the deal as it is difficult to refuse a handshake.

Remember its not just hard cash you can negotiate on. If the bike has "extras" such as an after market exhaust they might be prepared to let the bike go with the standard can for less money.
